The
Printmakers Council (England)
was founded in 1965 to promote the art of
printmaking and the work of contemporary
printmakers.
It continues to pursue this aim by organising
a program of exhibitions in London, throughout
the U.K. and worldwide. These exhibitions
show both traditional skills and innovatory
printmaking techniques.
art.tm,
was established in 1996 in Inverness,
Scotland as Highland Printmakers Workshop
and Gallery.
It is a visual arts organisation with
a membership spread across the Highlands
of Scotland. Its purpose is to promote visual
art in the Highlands through offering a
space for exhibitions, studio facilities
and an education programme.
Belfast
Print Workshop is the longest established
resource in Northern Ireland for artists
wanting to work in the various printmaking
media. The Workshop provides facilities for
professional artists, and has strong links
with the art teaching colleges and universities
in the city. We also offer courses and tuition
for artists that have no prior-experience
of printmaking or want to refresh or extend
their knowledge.
The Printmakers' Experimentarium was established
in Copenhagen, Denmark by
Henrik Boegh in 1997. It is a printmakers
workshop dedicated to testing, evaluating
and promoting chemically safe printmaking
techniques and materials.
They have acheived this through setting
up a Non-Toxic Printmaking Studio in central
Copenhagen from which they run courses for
professional artists, students and schools
alike. A shop has also been established
to supply practioners with the materials
and equipment they are likely to need.
Outside of the workshop Grafisk Experimentarium
have also promoted the new advances in safe
etching techniques throughout Scandinavia
through conferences, newsletters and an
instructional video, "Non-Toxic Intaglio
Step by Step."
Peacock
Visual Arts is the leading visual arts
organisation in Aberdeen and the North
east of Scotland. Established in 1974
as a printmaking workshop by artists, Peacock
Printmakers initially facilitated the creation
of original fine art prints. In recent years
though it has developed into a multimedia
centre catering for all aspects of the visual
arts.
Seacourt
Print Workshop is an artist print studio
located in Bangor, Co. Down, Northern
Ireland, offering facilities for Etching,
Relief, Lithography, Screenprinting, Photo-intaglio
and other fine art printmaking techniques.
It caters to anyone with an interest in
printmaking, from the beginner to the professional
artist. Seacourt strives, whenever possible,
to use safe and non-toxic materials and
methods. It was the first print workshop
in Ireland to adopt Acrylic-Resist Etching
techniques, as promoted by Edinburgh Printmakers.

Swansea
Print Workshop was set up in 1998 by
a group of artists with the aim of creating
a centre of excellence for printmaking in
South Wales. The studios provide
a forum for established printmakers and
would-be printmakers to meet and exchange
ideas and to share a platform of exhibition
opportunities.

without using many of the toxic chemicals
traditionally associated with printmaking."
Neil Owen is a printmaker based in Saltaire, England
who uses photo-etching in transfering drawings
onto the metal plate which are then given
tone with aquatint. His work can also be
seen in the gallery.
Stephen's
use of the computer for jewellery design
is based mainly in the creation of two-dimensional,
low-relief patterns and surface textures,
mostly abstracted from things seen such
as silk fabric or landscape features but
also derived from portraits of individuals.
These images, some from photographs, some
from his own computer drawings, are translated
into photo-tools which are developed onto
precious metals for chemical etching.

Amanda has been making and
designing her unique style of jewellery
since graduating from the Royal College
of Art, London in 1998. The workshop is
situated in Clerkenwell, London and is available
throughout the UK. Amandas website is at

materials. Their site has an on-line store
for art and printmaking requirements..
The Z*ACRYL ETCHING
SYSTEM is a line of integrated materials specifically
designed for the field of fine art printmaking.
They represent some of the most progressive
technologies available for etching, photoetching
and digital lithography.
Photo etching has applications in other
